The relations between the two countries have expanded beyond state-level visits to include, most recently, mutual investment and trade. Trade between the two countries has grown up to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.indembassybern.gov.in\/page\/india-switzerland\/#:~:text=Bilateral%20Trade%20&amp;%20Investment:%20India%20is,%2D22%2C%20mostly%20in%20bullion.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">USD 9.95 billion<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with opportunities in emerging sectors. Therefore, this blog aims to propose a roadmap for the Swiss companies and investors to expand their local presence in the Indian market through the sunrise sectors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Investments in Improving Renewable Energy Production and Infrastructure<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The renewable energy sector in India is supporting the country\u2019s transition to non-fossil fuel energy. India has unveiled a series of renewable energy policies and programmes like the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.investindia.gov.in\/blogs\/emerging-opportunities-sunrise-sectors-invest-india\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">National Electricity Plan (NEP)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Offshore Wind Energy and National Green Hydrogen Mission to increase capacity and investments in the renewable energy sector. India is expected to see a surge in energy demand across its economy by 2030, with the demand for energy capacity rising up to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.morganstanley.com\/ideas\/india-renewable-energy-investing-opportunities\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">370 gigawatts (GW<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). Despite limited renewable energy generation capacity, investors are deploying capital in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S2405844024171290#bib77\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sector<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> given India\u2019s long-run electricity demand growth, robust policies and favourable market forces, providing opportunities for investors in buying operational renewable (RE) distribution assets and explore stable investment options. The key example include Swiss impact assessment manager, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/impact-investor.com\/swiss-impact-investor-responsability-is-latest-to-invest-in-indian-renewables-firm-ampin\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">responsAbility<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, investing up to USD 35 million in Indian renewable energy developer, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/impact-investor.com\/swiss-impact-investor-responsability-is-latest-to-invest-in-indian-renewables-firm-ampin\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AMPIN Energy Transition<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Therefore, the potential areas of investment in India by the Swiss companies include improving renewable energy developers and grid capacity systems. Investments in these sectors will not only reduce India\u2019s energy imports, but also improve its energy infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Boosting Mutual Textile Production Capabilities and Market Access<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The textile sector in India is considered as a strong production base due to its capacity. In terms of spindle capacity, India stands <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/retail.economictimes.indiatimes.com\/blog\/decoding-how-indias-textile-industry-enhanced-its-global-standing-in-2024\/116831104\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">second<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to China and the country\u2019s textile industry has the potential to grow to USD 350 million, adding <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessworld.in\/article\/india%E2%80%99s-textile-industry-aims-for-350-bn-growth-by-2030-35-cr-jobs-to-be-created-531952\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3.5 crore jobs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by 2030. The availability of raw materials like wool, jute, cotton and silk in India along with the solid reputation of Swiss companies in providing higher quality products are considered complementary in enhancing trade and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/citiindia.org\/confederation-of-indian-textile-industry-and-swiss-textiles-forge-strategic-partnership-with-joint-declaration\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">investment<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> relations. The collaboration will offer Swiss companies the potential to increase investment in the textile sector and increase exports using India\u2019s existing supply chains.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Electronic Production Expansion Through Trade<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, India is considered one of the fastest-growing economies and remains at the forefront of developing its digital economy and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/Economy\/india-at-forefront-of-age-defined-by-tech-evolution-wef-report\/article69119315.ece\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">technological revolution<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The country\u2019s digital economy contributes to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestatesman.com\/business\/indias-digital-economy-to-grow-nearly-twice-as-fast-as-overall-economy-meity-report-1503389778.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">11.74%<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the national income with opportunities for transforming itself into a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/Economy\/india-at-forefront-of-age-defined-by-tech-evolution-wef-report\/article69119315.ece\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hub<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for innovation and startups.\u00a0 The technological capabilities provide an opportune moment for the Swiss technology companies and industrial set-ups to drive investments in the Indian digital market. The export capacity of the Swiss technology industry grew by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swissmem.ch\/en\/media-corner\/media-releases\/free-trade-agreement-with-india-huge-opportunity-for-the-swiss-tech-industry.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">60%<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> between 2020-2023 with potential market opportunities in increasing its exports of high-end technological products like electrical materials, sensors, valves and battery components to India. The export and investment avenues to India from Switzerland in the technological sector are likely to rise with the adoption of the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pib.gov.in\/PressReleaseIframePage.aspx?PRID=2101431\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TEPA<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) between India and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) member nations, comprising Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Norway. Therefore, the trade relations will aid in securing a sales market with a promise of expansion, development and generating employment opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Strengthening Bilateral Ties for Mutual Investments<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Relations between India and Switzerland will enable Swiss investors to develop and establish a market presence in the country, given the growth potential in sectors such as electronics, renewable energy and textiles.The conditions for a steady flow of mutual investments will not only enhance the brand presence of Swiss companies in India.
