\u201cThe Millennium Flood\u201d is coming to Basel City Hall! Take part in a unique debate set in Switzerland in 2037 and discover for yourself how politics can function in a crisis situation. What is “The Millennium Flood” about?<\/b><\/p>\n

Fall 2037. A deluge is sweeping across Switzerland, this Alpine nation. Weeks of storms, melting snow, and extreme rainfall are washing away the slopes and flooding the Swiss Plateau. The waters are closing in on Basel; the authorities are overwhelmed. Our neighboring countries are ready to come to Switzerland\u2019s aid with their \u201cGreen Helmets\u201d\u2014these newly formed \u201cclimate change response troops.\u201d In return, Switzerland must send its own citizens to serve in the Green Helmets. What should be done? <\/p>\n

In \u201cThe Millennium Flood,\u201d set in the not-too-distant future, the audience meets prominent figures from the worlds of politics, business, and science and must make a decision: join the Green Helmets and commit to fighting climate change, or face the crisis alone? Human lives and Switzerland\u2019s independence are at stake. The ultimatum expires at 9 p.m. <\/p>\n
