{"id":84901,"date":"2026-07-16T09:43:47","date_gmt":"2026-07-16T07:43:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foraus.ch\/project\/futures-champions\/"},"modified":"2026-07-16T09:43:47","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T07:43:47","slug":"futures-champions","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/foraus.ch\/en\/project\/futures-champions\/","title":{"rendered":"Futures Champions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<strong>\u201cFutures Champions\u201d is a foraus\u2019 project that aims to increase young people&#8217;s participation in the democratic debate.\u00a0<\/strong>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By providing young people with the necessary tools and knowledge in areas such as the Swiss political system, participatory policy-making and developing desirable visions of the future through futures literacy, we have the goal to:<\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Empower and enable young people to impact politics with their ideas<\/span><\/li>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide the tools for young people to design their futures<\/span><\/li>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Equip young people with project design and management skills<\/span><\/li>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strengthen young people\u2019s ability to listen and exchange in a group with different ideas and then present the group\u2019s ideas to other actors, such as politicians and relevant stakeholders<\/span><\/li>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strengthen the feeling of young people to be able to meaningfully impact and have a say in how our future is designed and realized<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<b>What is Futures Literacy?<\/b>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Futures literacy is a term used by UNESCO to define a capability: A universal skill built on the ability to imagine the future to encourage imagination, preparedness, and the ability to reinvent and recover as changes occur. The future becomes a policy-making tool to transform current governance.<\/span>\n\n<strong>What?<\/strong>\nWe identified and selected futures champions among a pool of Swiss youths with the goal to represent different identities of the Swiss confederation.\n<ul>\n \t<li>First, they will receive training by foraus on futures literacy, participatory policy-making and basic notions of the Swiss political system.<\/li>\n \t<li>Second, they will run workshops in your local community to identify desirable outcomes of the future and develop actionable policy recommendations based on those visions.<\/li>\n \t<li>Finally, the results of these workshops will be shared with representatives of the forming government in 2024.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<b>Outcome<\/b>\n\n<section id=\"block-socialblue-content\" class=\"block-system block-system-main-block\">\n<div class=\"contextual-region view view-group-information view-id-group_information view-display-id-page_group_about js-view-dom-id-c93df037998eb77b505a741ea524c43033c582e5e45548ccfa19ba52d86ae0fd\">\n<div class=\"group group--default group--challenge contextual-region card\">\n<div class=\"card__body body-text\">\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We identified and selected futures champions among a pool of Swiss youths with the goal to represent different identities of the Swiss confederation.<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After receiving training from foraus on futures literacy, participatory policy-making, and fundamental aspects of the Swiss political system, our Champions utilised foraus\u2019 digital crowd-innovation platform, Policy Kitchen, to conduct local participatory futures workshops in their respective cantons of origin throughout the second half of 2023 (Bern on September 5, Zurich on September 6, Lausanne on September 18, Geneva on September 20, and Basel on November 21).<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following these successful workshops and guided by our foraus community, our Champions consolidated the outcomes to create a project brief encompassing the innovative ideas generated.
