Bern Edition 2025<\/a> Basel Edition 2026<\/a><\/p>\n\n

foraus and Proberaum Zukunft are collaborating to stage future challenges in Swiss foreign policy in a unique setting. Following a successful run of the first scenario, \u201cThe Flood of the Millennium,\u201d in Bern (Spring 2025), the next edition will take place in the fall of 2026 at Basel City Hall. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

A Three-Phase Project<\/b><\/p>\n\n

“Politique en sc\u00e8ne: Deciding the Future” is structured as a three-phase project: <\/span><\/p>\n\n

Phase 1:<\/b> With the help of experts, the scenario is developed and refined, and all relevant facts are gathered through a comprehensive process. The goal is to create an evidence-based future scenario that addresses current foreign policy issues. <\/span> <\/p>\n\n

Phase 2: <\/b>The scenario is presented over several evenings as a staged debate, in which an audience interacts with high-profile experts from politics, business, academia, civil society, and government and must make a decision within a very short time. <\/span> <\/p>\n\n

Phase 3: <\/b>The topics discussed during the evening sessions are further developed by foraus and ultimately translated into policy proposals and recommendations for action. <\/span> <\/p>\n\n

Why is this project important?<\/b><\/b>Political issues must be presented in a way that is both scientifically sound and understandable\u2014and, above all, emotionally compelling. Foreign policy, in particular, often seems distant, complex, and disconnected from everyday life. The flood of information often leads to a so-called \u201csense of powerlessness,\u201d in which one\u2019s own political participation seems futile. And although many young people are actively involved in initiatives such as \u201cFridays for Future\u201d in the area of climate policy, for example, their overall political participation remains very low (<\/span>srf 2023<\/span><\/a>). Political processes must be brought to life through new, innovative formats. This requires methods from the <\/span>art and culture<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
