Join us on October 31 for a special Think&Drink evening at Floky la Loutre, as we delve into the crucial topics of global conflicts, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution. Building on discussions from the Geneva Peace Week, particularly the session on "Rebuilding Trust, Security, and Reconciliation," this event will explore how societies can be rebuilt after conflicts, focusing on inclusive governance, security reform, and local peace initiatives.
Our guest speaker, Peter Batchelor, Director Partnerships and Advocacy at Principles for Peace, has over 30 years of experience working on peace and security issues with government, academia, NGOs, and the UN. He has served in the Middle East, Asia, and the Pacific Islands, and was an economic advisor to the Mandela Government in South Africa from 1995-1999. He will discuss how local and international actors can collaborate to restore trust and security and which frameworks ensure the sustainability of these efforts.
Participants will examine the intricate relationship between trust-building and security, using real-world examples like the local peace councils in Syria and police reform in post-apartheid South Africa. These case studies will help us better understand the pillars of long-term stability in fractured societies.
Curious? Join us on October 31 for an enlightening evening, enjoy a free drink, and participate in a dynamic discussion with Peter Batchelor and fellow attendees, all committed to creating a more inclusive and harmonious society!
