Nach dem Erfolg der ersten Ausgabe kehrt GenSouth im Jahr 2026 zurück, um erneut eine Kohorte junger Forschenden und Berufsleute aus Think Tanks des Globalen Südens in Genf – dem Herzen des Multilateralismus – zu versammeln. Das Programm bietet eine einzigartige Plattform für aufstrebende Stimmen, um sich direkt mit multilateralen Akteuren auszutauschen, Erfahrungen zu teilen und gemeinsam politische Vorschläge zu entwickeln, die die Perspektiven des Globalen Südens widerspiegeln.
Angesichts neuer globaler Konflikte und sich zuspitzender Spannungen war der Bedarf an inklusiven, effektiven und zukunftsgerichteten multilateralen Lösungen nie dringender. Gerade jetzt ist es entscheidend, vielfältige Perspektiven an den Tisch zu bringen – insbesondere aus Regionen, die in internationalen Entscheidungsprozessen oft unterrepräsentiert sind.

Asif Ali, is a researcher at the Pakistan Institute of International Affairs with a focus on climate and conflict-induced displacement, human rights, South Asian politics, and broader themes in international security and global governance. His work also explores great-power rivalry, particularly the US-China contestation, and its implications for the Global South. Asif contributes editorial support to Pakistan Horizon, Pakistan’s oldest international affairs journal, and publishes regularly in its volumes. He holds an M.A. in Diplomacy and Strategic Studies and is currently completing my M.Phil. in International Relations at the University of Karachi.
Busisiwe Nandipha Nxumalo is a human rights advocate with over 10 years of experience in youth leadership, activism, and policy engagement. They hold a degree in International Relations and Politics from the University of Cape Town and have shaped landmark movements such as #RhodesMustFall and #FeesMustFall. They contributed research at the Western Cape Legislature and South Africa’s National Parliament and led public participation on the Hate Crimes and Hate Speech Bill, securing key LGBTQIA+ protections. A 2023 Mandela Washington Fellow, Inaugural Chairperson of the Netherlands Youth Advisory Council, and work as a Policy, Advocacy and Stakeholder Officer at the Southern African Liaison Office (SALO) , they now also serve at the NYDA Board, advancing youth development.
Camila Abbondanzieri is a researcher, professor, and PhD candidate in International Relations at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario, Argentina, and a Doctoral Fellow at CONICET. She is also part of the REDAPPE as a Researcher and Committee Member. Her research focuses on the role of Southern-led development banks in regional integration, development, and climate governance in Latin America. Passionate about inclusive and sustainable cooperation, she advocates for stronger South-South collaboration and more equitable multilateral institutions.
Chanranuth Neth is a Young Researcher and Junior Research Fellow at the Cambodian Institute for Cooperation and Peace (CICP). His research focuses on the responsible governance of artificial intelligence, particularly AI policy and governance, with an emphasis on Cambodia’s National AI Strategy and the ASEAN-China AI Policy Alignment and Trust Framework. Beyond research, Chanranuth is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and Automation at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in the People’s Republic of China.
Cidney Wekesi obtained her degree from the United States International University – Africa with a BA in International Relations and Affairs. She works as a research assistant at the Youth Cafe, where she drafted two policy briefs on science, technology, innovation and capacity building and debt and debt sustainability for the 4th International Finance for Development conference in Spain. Cidney was an Attaché at the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs in Kenya. Her key interests include Foreign policy, Human rights advocacy, south-south cooperation, and security studies.
Fatima Zohra is a multidisciplinary scientist and researcher with a background in marine ecology, gender studies, and education. She contributes to the FFMed think tank, where her work focuses on environmental sustainability, maritime geopolitics, and gender equality. Trained in foreign policy and geopolitics through FES programmes, she brings both scientific expertise and policy insight to her work. Passionate about inclusive development and feminist approaches to global challenges, she is dedicated to bridging science, policy, and community perspectives to advance more just and sustainable solutions.
Jessica Correa is a Mexican social entrepreneur with over five years of experience across think tanks, NGOs, and multilateral initiatives. She is the founder of Hippo, a youth-led think tank focused on civic engagement, environmental justice, and Global South cooperation. Jessica has worked with platforms such as On Think Tanks, TECHO and Transversal Think Tank, leading initiatives that strengthen civic space and promote inclusive, evidence-informed policymaking. With a background in international relations and a master’s in international development and cooperation, she is passionate about democratizing policy influence and building transnational communities. Jessica aims to deepen South-South collaboration and advocate for a revitalized, hope-based multilateralism rooted in resilience, creativity, and lived experience.
Jimmy Berlianto is a policy researcher in Indonesia with expertise in development governance, focusing on social inclusion, inequality, and participation. He has extensive experience conducting studies on digital inclusion, democratic participation, and social protection. Currently, he serves as a Senior Researcher at the Center for Indonesian Policy Studies (CIPS), where his work covers food system governance, economic development, and equitable education. Jimmy’s research interests also extend to examining how South-South partnerships can advance inclusive development and adaptive social protection, particularly in addressing the challenges of the global polycrisis.
Khushi Pandey is a Research Associate at the Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS), an independent, non-political think-tank based in Kathmandu, Nepal. At CSAS, she contributes to research and conferences on South Asian regional cooperation, peace and conflict, connectivity, disaster risk reduction, climate change, and Nepal’s international relations. CSAS is recognized among the top think-tanks in the Asia-Pacific by the University of Pennsylvania’s Global Go To Think-Tank Index Report and serves as the convener of the Consortium of South Asian Think-Tanks (COSATT), which brings together leading institutions from across the region.
Khushi is passionate about advancing inclusive development and amplifying Global South perspectives in multilateral forums. Alongside her work, she has pursued studies at the University of Western Switzerland (EHL) and the London School of Economics experiences that have strengthened her international outlook and commitment to bridging regional and global dialogues.
Layla Ali is a Senior Research Associate at the Gulf Research Center (GRC), an independent think tank based in Saudi Arabia that offers a comprehensive Arab Gulf perspective on regional and global developments. Through her research, Layla addresses key security and geopolitical issues, focusing on Gulf regional security in an ever-evolving global landscape. Her territorial research places particular emphasis on the dynamics of Gulf-Asia relations, where she examines the Gulf’s strategic interests and its position in regional and global contexts. Layla also explores South-South cooperation, analyzing how partnerships between the Gulf states and the Global South contribute to broader regional and international security frameworks.
Nadine Abd El Rezek is a social researcher interested in studying urban inequality, informality, and displacement. She currently heads the Legal Research Unit at the Built Environment Observatory and manages outreach for the Pathways Beyond Neoliberalism : Voices from MENA program at the American University in Cairo. Nadine’s academic background includes a bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto in Sociology and Political Science and an LLM from the American University in Cairo.
Nycolas Candido is an Associate Researcher at Plataforma CIPÓ, and Ph.D. candidate in International Relations at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RIO). He graduated with academic distinction in International Relations from Rio de Janeiro Federal University (UFRJ). Nycolas have eight years of experience as a Social Educator. He conducts research and advocacy strategies in key areas such as : reform of global governance, international financial architecture, climate policy, and sustainable development.
Néstor Genis is a young political scientist and public administrator. He has collaborated with various civil society organizations and currently coordinates the Inclusion and Sustainable Development area at Mexican Think Tank Ethos Innovación en Políticas Públicas. His work combines field engagement with policy analysis, using an intersectional approach to promote climate justice and reduce inequalities. Nestor has coordinated diverse research and advocacy processes on issues such as decent work, environmental protection, and social policy, and has broad experience collaborating with international cooperation agencies and regional initiatives.
