Kaan is currently working as a specialist for the Dublin procedure at the State Secretariat for Migration. Prior to this, he completed an interdisciplinary Master’s degree at the Geneva Graduate Institute in International and Development Studies with a focus on migration and borders. During and after his studies, he gained valuable professional experience in various sectors, including the Swiss Embassy in Azerbaijan, the Afghan Mission in Geneva, the Think Tank Avenir Suisse and Credit Suisse. He also served as a member of the Migration Council in Winterthur.

Switzerland’s foreign policy is being reshaped by geopolitical fragmentation, fiscal pressure, militarisation, technological disruption, and climate crisis. At the same time, progress on gender equality is facing growing pushback. This publication argues that gender backlash is not a marginal issue, but a structural trend. It also argues that gender equality is not a symbolic add-on, but a condition for a credible and effective foreign policy.
