In a tense time for multilateralism, the selection and appointment of the next United Nations Secretary-General is crucial. How does the whole process actually work?

Let’s learn to turn our research into stories people actually want to hear!
Think tanks, such as foraus, produce valuable research, but strong evidence does not automatically translate into attention or impact. How can we communicate policy research in ways that engage journalists and broader audiences, without oversimplifying or sensationalizing it?
In this interactive skills-building workshop, we will explore how to find the story hidden inside research and use storytelling techniques to bring policy issues to life. You will learn how to identify characters, tension, stakes and strong hooks; build a compelling policy story; and use concrete storytelling techniques to make complex research more engaging.
We will also look at storytelling for the media and social media: how to pitch the story rather than simply the report, and how to move from “We published a new policy brief…” to telling people what you actually discovered.
Through hands-on exercises using real foraus publications, projects and events, you will put these techniques into practice and transform policy content into a story people want to read, watch or hear. And, of course, there will be a sandwich break.
